• A variety of past experiences influence our thoughts and behaviors, and this premise also applies to adult second language (L2) and foreign language (FL) learning above and beyond child first language acquisition, since toddlers can internalize their mother tongue largely unconsciously with the language faculty of mental organizations while adults consciously study linguistic features such as vocabulary, pronunciation, and grammar and much think of non-linguistic matters as their goals and motives, worries and anxiety, beliefs about how one should study, and strategies for learning the target language effectively.
  
• My work in English teaching methodology focuses on affective and cognitive factors in language learning. Examples of those foctors are motivation, goal orientations, beliefs, anxiety, and strategy. The roles and interactions of those factors are discussed in my lab.
