Elective Courses

Elective Courses are available to second year students or above. There are two types of course currently available: S1/S2 courses, and S3 courses. Students who wish to develop their English language skills can select classes according to specific areas of interest. A range of different courses are available, and specific courses may also vary each semester. Course descriptions are available to students at the time of enrollment. Classes are taught in English, and students are required to participate actively during the class using the English language. More information about these courses is available from the EEC Office.

S1/S2 COURSES

Two courses (S1/S2) are offered as intensive classes during summer and spring vacations. Students can take English language courses in our partnership academic institutions in overseas for about 3 - 4 weeks. Those who complete the courses and take before-and-after classes in Japan receive 2 credits.

S3 COURSES

The S3 course is taken as a regular class over fifteen weeks during the semester, rather than as a vacation intensive class. The course content taught during these classes is expected to improve their English communication skill. Course themes in the past have included Introductory Interpretation, Business English, Academic Reading, Writing Strategies, etc. Course descriptions for the S3 classes will also be available at registration time, and students will be able to make selections according to their own individual preferences.

English Professional Training Program
The EEC also provides the special program for expanding general academic skills in English to those who achieved excellent grades in the compulsory English courses during the freshman year. We accept up to 30 sophomore students every year and give them the opportunities to use English more often in class as well as study it. The admission procedure usually starts at the beginning of February, and its details will be announced on our website. For more information, please visit our website.
